Many times, I have heard tourists say, "we have always wanted to visit Darwin in the wet. Just to see the difference from what it would look like when there is so much rain, but the rain and humidity keep us away. I am not sure that I like the heat." Yes, the heat can be hard to cope with, though with some simple strategies you can enjoy your time in Darwin. It does not rain all day, every day, so there are still plenty of activities to occupy your time. Simply choose those activities that are inside on rainy days and outside ones when the sky is looking lovely.

| Storm over the harbour |
What is there to do in the Wet Season? I hear you ask. Although some places close or reduce their services in the wet season there are those that would love to see you visit at any time of the year.
Even in the wet weather, flowers and plants still show their true resilience to the change. The amazing and beautiful array of rainbow colours and flora adorn many of the local and public gardens, trees and bushes around the Territory. From ground covers with colours so eye catching you cannot help but look or take a photo. The grasses come alive with many shades of green. The sky so picturesque, with a multitude of rainbow colours and the black, grey and white of the clouds as they dance across the sky during a storm. One of my ultimate dreams is to get some beautiful storm photos, with lightning and storm clouds across the sky. A photographers delight. Many people sit on Stokes Hill Wharf at the harbour and other areas along the shoreline waiting for the change in colours across the sky, imagine what it would be like during a storm. The noise when thunderclaps and the lightning spreads it's fingers through the clouds, the wonderful sights, absolutely stunning.

| Beautiful Orchids |
 |
| Crocodile sculpture |
The lovely Botanical gardens (also known as The George Brown Darwin Botanical Gardens), here you have different choices of activities to do. A lovely cool place to walk amongst the trees and flowers, visit the Orchid house and see the sculptures in the desert gardens, the information centre near the fountains and stop in at the cafe for some of their wonderful delights to tempt the taste buds. Walking around the gardens especially after a shower is lovely and cool and a good way for the kids to expend some energy.

| Stokes Hill Wharf. |
Not everything is about seeing, some are about exploring the different tastes and food delights of the local area. With an array of different cultures there are foods to suit all taste buds. There are many choices to make when selecting where to dine. In the end it is your choice and what you feel like at that particular breakfast, lunch or dinner time. Maybe watch the sunset on the Wharf as you enjoy the array of different cuisines that are on offer, don't forget the ice cream and other desserts. There are plenty of eateries in the city to choose from.

| AFL game rain or shine. |
A fan of AFL......
and not overly concerned what team you like to watch play the game. Well, why not attend a local game at TIO Stadium. Today I sat in the main stadium out of the rain. It has been showering lightly since the early hours, for days on and off if I can be honest. The ground is soaking wet, with a sheen of water over the ground, making some or all of the ground very muddy. Game time and the teams line up on the ground and the whistle blows.
What a game, it doesn't matter that the rain hasn't stopped or there is mud flying everywhere. These men and women are giving the game all they have. Playing hard to win, the ball is slippery and wet, for that matter so are the players. Players sliding across the ground, rain dripping down their faces, they keep going. After the game, wet, cold and tired they come off the ground knowing that they have given their all.

| Wangi falls |
 |
| Bottom of Tolmer Falls. |
Wet season is a good time to visit some falls in the national park. Though not all falls will be open in the wet as the road into the actual falls can be dirt and you will get bogged. Falls like Wangi (pronounced wong guy) in Litchfield is amazing when flowing in the wet season. To hear the roar of the water as it spills over the rocks and hits the water below is thoroughly amazing to see and hear. We went on a day that was partly showering and the pool below had flooded over the walkway and seats. Please make sure that you can get there safely and back to town. There are a couple of other falls here in
Litchfield National Park. The cafe may not be open though there are a couple of pubs nearby
that provide great food and service.
What about a nature park, there are a few to choose from. Berry Springs Wildlife Park, has hire bikes and hop on and off buses with running commentary of information that is very interesting as they move around the park or feeling energetic you can follow the walking paths around from one display to another.
No matter what activity you choose to do whether it is a busy day or a relaxing day doing not much and keeping cool. You are sure to find something of interest to do around Darwin. Darwin has such a diverse culture that you should not forget the wide range of eateries that are around the city.
🐸🐸 Now we challenge you to visit Darwin in the wet season and enjoy the beauty and find an activity that we have not mentioned above to occupy your time here and make it memorable. What will you find to do?
