The Beautiful Murray River and Paddle Steamers.....

Image
It all started with a dream and a bucket list when we first met, this is how our adventure came about on the Murray River.  We both love the serenity of the water and boats.  With a milestone birthday and our anniversary coming around, making it special was the order of the day.  We decided to mix both and booked a cruise on the Murray River on the beautiful Murray Princess.  To make it extra special the cruise was Christmas in July. Beginning in Mannum SA, named from an aboriginal word interpretation being "Place of many ducks".   The Murray Princess, Mannum Driving into the car park and catching our first glimpse, there she sat so elegantly on the water, the Murray Princess.  What a beauty.  It was almost like stepping back in time and you were dressed in the fashion of the 1800's.  Long flowing dresses and a lace parasol to keep the sun off your face.  You can feel the excitement building, just thinking that you were about to be...

Adventures in the Wildlife park - Berry Springs NT

Image
During our Easter break we decided to visit the Territory Wildlife Park. We had been advised by others that it is worth visiting and we would find it interesting.  The usual thoughts go through your head, what is different?  We have been to wildlife parks before; they are all the same.  Well, this was our chance to find out what was different. Wallaby  On arrival you are greeted by two lovely ladies in the shop.   They give you a short talk about the area where you are, a map   to guide you around the park, and let you know that, if you so   wish, there is a bus that you can hop on and off. The buses run   every half hourly or so and stop at the different attractions along   the way.  There are also approximately 6 klm of walking paths   around the park if you would like to exercise or assist the   children to expend some of their energy. If you are more energetic there is a bike hire f...

Don't be too Quick to say Goodbye to Orroroo...

Image
Orroroo, a small township nestled near the Flinders Ranges, steeped in history and other treasures that you may find.  Instead of driving straight through this town, stop and stay a couple of days and have a good look around.   The caravan park is nestled near the edge of town.  Where you are personally taken to your site and given assistance. The personal touch is always welcomed. There are good amenities, laundry, BBQ area behind the laundry which overlooks the Golf Club.  If you are there at the right time, there will be an awesome sunset to watch.  Sunset from Caravan Park With just a short walk to the town centre where you can shop in the local IGA, have a coffee in one of the local cafes, try The Collective shop for that unique gift for someone special or yourself.  The day we were there it was cold and the wood burning in the fireplace made the shop smell lovely and cosy. We even looked in the local OP shop because you never know what you ...

Crocodiles can Jump.....

Image
The Adelaide River can be both amazingly beautiful and dangerous at the same time. Why I hear you ask?  The beauty is in the scenery, surrounding nature and the green leafed foliage that grows along the riverbank.  Striving to reach up to the sky some with vines growing over them and other standing tall for the Firestick Hawks/Kites and other native birds to roost or make their homes on their branches. While under the water lives a different type of animal, as well as fish.  Are they beautiful, well maybe, then maybe not depending on how you see these ancient creatures of the deep... here can lie the danger of the river. Jumping Crocodile Crocodile statue  If you are lucky and observant you can see Eagles, Jabiru, Brolgas and many other birds nesting on the   branches out of the searing heat. Watching as they   soar, flying on the wind without a care, searching for food.    We booked our tour on "The Original Adelaide  ...
